Makeup that's good for your skin? It DOES exist- you just need to do your homework & read up on ingredients! Alternatively, check out the products that I've been trying out below ;) It's a good idea to opt for nourishing makeup all year round, but particularly during the months when your skin needs it the most.
Jane Iredale is actually referred to as "the skincare makeup"- and for good reason. It's a mineral makeup range, making it suitable for all skin types, particularly those of us with stressed, troubled or sensitive skin. I've been a huge fan of the Amazing Base Pure Mineral Powder, the Smooth Affair primer, and the Longest Lash mascara for years now- but I'm in love with the new matte eyeshadow palette. Naturally Matte is GORGEOUS, with shades ranging from a creamy neutral, soft pink, to a dark chocolatey brown. The shades are highly pigmented, last all day, and the rose gold packaging is a favourite of mine. This is a wonderful option for people that have super sensitive eyes, and also for the people that are matte shadow devotees ;)
BB creams are renowned for being chock full of beneficial ingredients for your skin, & the Kiehl's Skin Tone Correcting & Beautifying BB Cream is at the top of the game. For starters, it offers broad spectrum protection of SPF 50 (amazing)- remember it's just as important to protect your skin from UV rays during the cold months as it is in summer! It also contains my much raved about fave, vitamin C, which clinically corrects uneven skin tone over time. What else? SO MUCH. It minimises pores, conceals skin imperfections (with mineral pigments, no nasties), & comes in 4 different shades. Try it- please. You will love it!
While not strictly a makeup item, I couldn't resist including the beautiful Oasis Beauty Berry Tonic! Mind you, I use it regularly as a makeup refresher throughout the day- so I feel like it definitely belongs here ;) This light mist contains the most gorgeous smelling natural ingredients such as strawberry, watermelon, chamomile & aloe vera, & it feels AMAZING on my skin. It can also be used as a toner after cleansing & before moisturising, brightening, hydrating & refreshing your skin...while somehow managing to uplift your mood because it's just so nice to use! Love Oasis, love this product.
Brand new to the New Zealand, the latest offering from Bobbi Brown is COMPLETELY my cup of tea. The Skin Nourishing Glow Foundation has shot up to the top of my foundation faves, for so many reasons. Firstly, it's designed for dry-normal skin, which is perfect for me. Secondly, the formulation is super creamy...almost like a mousse, actually. If I've had too little sleep, & my skin is dull & blah, this makes it GLOW, and it's incredibly comfortable to wear given how lightweight it is. The coverage is medium (I can skip concealer), & it contains marine extracts & collagen-enhancing ferment; these hydrate, calm, & plump your skin. This newbie gets a big YAY from me!!!
Soooo- what are your thoughts? Would you be keen on any of these? I'd love you to tell me your favourite skin beneficial makeup products below!
