Do you love exquisite, girly packaging, caramel scents, & over the top luxury? Then you NEED to go and check out Viktor & Rolf BonBon Couture. Released earlier this year, this is the sexier, more luxurious version of the original....and it is SO YOU. With top notes of mandarin, neroli oil and peach, creamy middle notes of orange blossom,Sambac jasmine, & caramel, & base notes of sandalwood and patchouli, with vanilla and blonde tobacco . you'll be smelling like a goddess all summer long. This white floral/caramel fragrance is one you should be dropping major hints for this Christmas ;)
This time of year has the potential to really take it out of us....and it can show in our skin! I know it definitely shows in mine. I'm on my second jar of the Energie de Vie Sleeping Mask from Lancôme- and I don't see myself ever stopping using it! I put it on just before bed, and leave it on overnight (don't worry, it absorbs like a dream)- and I wake up looking ALIVE! My skin is plump, smooth, hydrated, and glowy absolutely every time I use this mask- I don't 100% guarantee many things, but I can guarantee you this. It works! Please, please try it- you'll never look back.
No one does a Christmas collection quite like Lush does- every single year the products seem to get bigger, better, and six million times more beautiful. 2016 is no exception, and it was unbelievably hard to try and narrow down my favourites :O But- here we go. I loveee the Golden Wonder Bath Bomb because of how happy & uplifting the scent is- think sweet orange oil, zesty lime, & cognac! The Santasaurus Bubble Bar was a HUGE hit with Micah- that kid has never had so much fun in the bath before (& he's begging me to buy more). I was rapt to see the return of the candy floss-scented Snow Fairy not just in shower gel formula...but a divine body conditioner- OBSESSED! It's not too late to dash in store to nab these, but be quick- they're limited edition!
Everyone knows that I'm always down to try a new serum- particularly if they involve brightening the skin. Who doesn't want brighter, more radiant skin?! I was sent the Societe Brightening Serum several months ago, and I've been using it with great joy ever since. Essentially, it's meant to target dark spots, pigmentation & discolouration- none of which I have CRAZY amounts of admittedly...but I do have a couple of sun-damaged areas that irk me. This serum has absolutely lightened these up- & this makes me very happy. I'm excited to keep using it to see if it makes them disappear for good!
This is a product that I've been using for nearly a year, and I love it just as much now as I did when I first started! The Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Ultra Lift & Firm SPF 15 Foundation is an absolute DREAM to apply & wear. If you have dry skin, or aging skin, or both (like moi), this will most likely end up being your holy grail. It gives an excellent full coverage (yussss) with a satin finish- & it doesn't sink into any fine lines! A little bit goes a long way, and I've had great success with the longevity of this foundation- I've had a solid 9 hours wear with no touch ups- LOVE! Definitely check it out at your closest Elizabeth Arden counter.
As soon as I laid eyes on the new Bobbi Brown Wine & Chocolate Collection, I was smitten. Actually, as soon as I heard the collection was CALLED Wine & Chocolate, I was smitten. Two of my faves as the inspiration for a collection? YES PLEASE. I wasn't disappointed- look at these beauties! The limited edition collection includes two eyeshadow palettes, Sequin Eye Shadow singles (4 different sparkly/shimmer shades that are all to die for), two brightening blushes, as well as lipstick and gel eyeliner. The packaging is gorgeous, and I just KNOW these are going to sell out. Be quick!
Eye cream is one of those things that I SHOULD have started using about one hundred years ago- but didn't. Because I was so slack, this means that not any old eye product will do- I have some SERIOUS crows feet that need work. thankfully, the legends from Aspect Skincare sent me their Eye Cream several months ago, and I've been using it religiously ever since. It contains all the good stuff like shea butter, Sodium Hyaluronate, Panthenol, Aloe and Glycerin, and it's beautifully nourishing. I apply it twice a day; in the morning before makeup application, and in the evening before bed. While I still do have some crows feet, I've noticed a significant improvement- I look far more awake, & the entire area is just more refreshed. I will definitely keep using this!
If you're like me and you're an absolute sucker for sparkly, glittery, shiny packaging, you're going to lose your mind over the latest MAC Cosmetics collaboration. MAC X Mariah Carey is absolutely BEAUTIFUL- and has arrived just in time for Christmas ;) Start hinting.... ;) The collection (which is pretty vast, actually) includes embossed lipsticks, lipglasses, two eyeshadow quads, blush powders- & so, so much more. My top picks? The Extra Dimension Skinfinish in My Mimi, the warm-toned eyeshadow quad called I'm That Chick You Like, and the gorgeous Bit Of Bubbly lipstick. These will be on counter from December the 12th- get ready!!!
Aspect Dr Deep Cleanser, & CosMedix Purity Clean Exfoliating Cleanser
Even though I am most definitely on the wrong side of 35, I still manage to keep my skin looking decent enough that occasionally I'm asked for ID- REALLY. The main things I credit it to is using Vitamin C serums, but mostly, religiously double cleansing every night. Basically- removing all makeup with one round of cleansing, and then doing another full cleanse afterwards. It sounds too good and too easy to be true, but it works- trust me. I alternate between Aspect Dr Deep Cleanser, & CosMedix Purity Clean Exfoliating Cleanser, they're both so brilliant that I can't choose a favourite. The Aspect Dr cleanser is suitable for all skin types, contains a blend of natural AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids), & works beautifully to unclog pores. It also leaves my skin feeling super soft and plump- LOVE.The CosMedix cleanser is beautifully cooling & refreshing; & contains shea butter to hydrate, lactic acid to exfoliate & renew skin cells, & peppermint essential oil to brighten your little face. If you're wanting to get serious about your skincare routine, I recommend either of these 100%- call 0800 238754 for stockists!
Elizabeth Arden Always Red Femme EDT
Last year Elizabeth Arden brought us the gorgeous fragrance Always Red...in 2016 we have the new Always Red Femme- & it is BEAUTIFUL. With top notes of black currant, pear and lemon, middle notes of peach blossom, jasmine, and lily of the valley, and base notes of vanilla, cedar, patchouli and moss; this perfume will be a must-have for fans of floral/fruity scents. The EDT comes in two sizes- 50ml & 100ml, and the bottle will look impressive amongst anyone's beauty collection. My favourite part? Always Red Femme lasts and lasts, the staying power is FAB!
Mellow Cosmetics Blush
Chances are that you've already tried (or at least heard of) the incredible Mellow Cosmetics matte lipsticks and liquid lip paints...if you haven't, you MUST- because they are BEYOND perfection! I've been wearing the Creamy Matte Lipstick in Nude and the Liquid Lip paint in Barcelona to absolute death lately- I love how long-wearing they are without drying out my lips in the slightest. BEST. Mellow Cosmetics is fab for many reasons- including the fact that they're a New Zealand brand, AND they're cruelty-free, so I was stoked when they sent me some of their Blush powders to try. They come in three different shades- Bronze, Pink & Peach (Peach is my fave), they have an excellent colour payoff, and are so easy to blend that it's not even funny. I've been using the Bronze shade as a bronzer as well, and it's perfect! A must-try!
Jane Iredale Lemongrass Love Hydration Spray
I've been a huge fan of Jane Iredale products for years, and I've always meant to try their Hydration Sprays, but never got around to it. WHY DID I WAIT??? They are SO BEAUTIFUL! You can use them in a myriad of ways; I spray it on my face and let it set before applying makeup, I use it during the day to keep my base looking fresh, and sometimes I just spray it around because it makes my house smell good :D The latest spray, Lemongrass Love, to join the range is a little bit special, because $2.00 from every bottle sold is donated to NZ Breast Cancer Research. a cause particularly close to my heart. I'm excited to use this spray during summer, as I can imagine it'll be the perfect pick-me-up...but mine definitely won't last that long, as I can't resist using it every day!
The BrowGal Highlighter Pencil
MUOs are, and have always been, ALL about perfect brows. The BrowGal range (which is now available in NZ from stockists nationwide) has a brilliant selection of high quality, high performing brow products, and once you try them, you'll become addicted because they are just SO GOOD. Everyone knows I love multi-tasking beauty products, and the BrowGal Highlighter Pencil is certainly no exception. It comes in two colour combinations (Champagne/Cherub, or Gold/Nude), and is the perfect size to pop in your handbag for quick touch ups. You see, one end of the pencil is a matte shade- this can cover any facial imperfections, as well as conceal annoying brow regrowth. The shimmer side can be used to highlight your brow bone, as well as on the tops of the cheekbones & cupids bow. Did I mention that it blends like a dream? Perfection in a pencil!
Environ Youth EssentiA Antioxidant Defence Creme
This South African skincare brand is popular worldwide for their ridiculously effective, high-performing products. I discovered them two years ago, and have been hooked on a tonne of their products ever since (particularly the Focus Frown Serum- so good!). They've recently added a new range of goodness, Youth EssentiA. It includes a cleanser, toner, eye gel, moisturiser- as well as four serums containing vitamin C, A & E, all if varying strengths. The idea is to start with the lowest potency level serum, and build up over time to the stronger serums if need be. I'm loving the Antioxidant Defence Creme (pictured above), designed to be used after the serum. It's packed full of Vitamin C (which I swear by), as well as Vitamin E & it keeps my skin feeling plump & hydrated all day long. So good for under makeup, especially! I highly recommend you check out the Environ range, big time.
Bronx Colors Cosmetics
As wonderful as it is living in New Zealand, we don't have the hugest choice of makeup brands that other larger countries do- so whenever a new brand lands here it is CRAZY exciting. Bronx Colors launched in NZ this year, I've been trialling several of their products and I'm super impressed! You can order these online (delivery is quick quick quick), an the products are affordable (yussss). Being affordable doesn't mean they compromise on quality, though, they're fab! My top picks are the Matte Lip Tints (Beige Pink, Burgundy, and Red Wine are my faves), the Legendary Lipstick (the shades Nutmeg, Nude and Cinnamon are YUM), and the Gel Liner (this dries matte, lasts all day long, & comes with a perfect little brush for application). MUO's need to check this brand out, ASAP!
Tommy Hilfiger The Girl EDT
I've been wanting to try this since I saw that the face of the fragrance was Gigi Hadid- SUCH GODDESS- so I was rapt when it arrived last week. The Girl is a very fresh, bold perfume that I imagine I'll be wearing to death over summer. If you love crisp, green scents, you're going to have to check this out asap. It comes in 30ml, 50ml, and 100ml, and the bottle is super chic and cute. The Girl has top notes of, middle notes of, and base notes of- & the staying power is legendary. There's nothing worse than a fragrance you love that doesn't last, but The Girl has brilliant longevity, and I LOVE it.
Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy Rosé EDP
Fragrance group- Floral
Top notes- Jasmine, Pear, Mandarin
Middle notes- Rose, Peony, Sambac Jasmine
Base notes- Ambroxan, Benzoin, Orris
YUM- SO YUM. Bravo, Juicy Couture, this is my favourite fragrance you've produced thus far. And the packaging? SO girly & over the top, I love it- I especially love the pink glitter ombre bottle. Viva La Juicy Rosé isn't anywhere near as sweet/gourmand as their past fragrances (no caramel notes this time round), given that the top and middle notes are predominantly floral and fruity. I'm not a fan of sickly sweet fragrance, which is why I love this so much. It smells like hugs- weird, but true, & it makes you feel happy, sparkly & fresh while you're wearing it. Even if you're not a sparkly kind of human, which I'm really not- this is gorgeous. A must-have for all Juicy fans.
It's not often that I include a lip balm in a Friday Faves roundup, but this one is SUBLIME. It really, really works, & is so lovely to use that it borders on addictive. Aspect Skin Care always comes through with the goods, so it's not surprising how much of the winner their Gold Hydrating Lip Balm is. It contains alllll the good stuff: jojoba esters, coconut oil, beeswax, & shea butter- & something else that makes your lips feel tingly & plump- I love! It's perfect to apply at the start of your makeup routine to prep your lips for lipstick, and equally perfect to use before going to bed as part of your skincare regime. I feel like I need to have several of these in various locations around my house- it's a handbag staple for SURE.
YSL Black Opium Nuit Blanche EDP
Fragrance group- White coffee floral
Top notes- Bourbon Pepper, Rice
Middle notes- Coffee, Orange Blossom
Base notes- Vanilla, Sandalwood, White Musk
Ohhhhhh, this is soooo good! The original Black Opium EDT was released in NZ last year, & has probably been the most written about and lusted after fragrance that I've seen in MUO- EVERYONE wanted it. This year, YSL are totally playing with us with the release of a new EDP, Black Opium Nuit Blanche. In my (humble) opinion, it's not as intense as the original, it's a little softer, a little fresher- think creamy as opposed to sugary. The vanilla drydown is strong with this one (which I love), & the coffee middle note is far more prominent. If you're looking for a fragrance that will make you feel like a goddess, one that commands attention, & has fantastic longevity- this is it. And the bottle is, as always, divine.
All MUOs will remember last year's micellar water craze- it was intense!!! All bottle of the original Garnier Micellar Water disappeared from NZ shelves in less than a month...I feel like MUO had a large part in this- you guys are amazing! I have news- it's going to happen again with the latest offering, Pure Active Micellar Water, which is especially designed for oily/combination skin. This works in the exact same way as the pink topped original, removing non-waterproof makeup with no drama at all (note that I said non-waterproof), leaving your skin feeling fresh and happy. I did note that the new version contains an ingredient called alcohol denant, so this may not be great for sensitive skin- the pink topped version is gentler. This is on sale everywhere now, but you'll have to be speedy!
Left to my own devices, my hair is insane. I love the idea of letting it air dry (& I do do this occasionally, because life is crazy busy), but honestly, the aftermath is a frizz fest. I'm talking strictly messy bun styles only. I like having a little wave in my hair, but when I DO like it to be stick straight, the new ghd Platinum Styler is fantastic. This was sent to me only recently, so I haven't used it hundreds of times, but every time I do I remember why I love ghd products in the first place. My hair always ends up looking super shiny, and feeling healthy as well. There are 3 sensors in each plate which serve to deliver just the right amount of heat, it comes with a heat-resistant plate guard AND universal voltage. best of all? It has a 30 minute sleep mode, so if you're as forgetful as I am, you'll be rapt that it turns itself off after 30 minutes of inactivity. I've been using it in conjunction with the ghd Advanced Split End Therapy treatment, & this product is a little bottle of magic. If you want silky smooth hair, check these two out- BEST!!!
Face masks are my weakness- I love them, and I want to try them all, ALL THE TIME. So when I was sent the Manuka Doctor ApiClear Purifying Facial Mask, I was RAPT, as one of my fave skincare products of all time is the Manuka Doctor ApiClear Purifying Facial Peel. The ApiClear range is designed mainly for people with blemish-prone, troubled skin. Even though my skin is thankfully neither of those things (too old), I've found that the ApiClear products make a huge amount of difference to the texture of my skin. It makes it look & feel toned and clear- and somehow manages to reduce my fine lines. The ApiClear Purifying Facial Mask is a brilliant deep-cleansing mask which draws out impurities, & balances the oil & moisture in your skin. I've been using twice a week, & trust me, it makes your skin GLOW. Please check out this range- you'll be so happy you did!
ALERT ALERT ALERT! We FINALLY have the Giorgio Armani cosmetics range available for purchase in NZ- at Aelia Duty Free, Auckland International Airport. This is fantastic news for MUO members, & terrible news for our bank balances because the range is BEAUTIFUL- let's focus on the positives today, though. I was sent some product to try which was crazy exciting as I'd never had the opportunity before- the stand out product for me was the Maestro Fusion Makeup SPF15. It's an oil based serum-type foundation & as with all foundations of this type, the formulation is quite thin. However, the pigmentation packs a punch- it's medium coverage which can be built up without looking cakey. It feels incredible on thanks to how lightweight it is, & has a natural, soft matte finish. I like!!!!
Michael Kors 24K Brilliant Gold EDP (centre)
Fragrance group- Floral
Top notes- Mandarin orange
Middle notes- Orange blossom
Base notes- Vetiver
The above three fragrances are part of the Michael Kors Gold Collection, & I die over the sleek metallic packaging alone. I received the 24K Brilliant Gold, and it was the perfect one for my tastes! For your reference, the White Luminous Gold fragrance is fruity, with notes of pear, jasmine & amber, while the Rose Radiant Gold is spicy/woody musk. 24K Brilliant Gold is so creamy & gorgeous, I LOVE white floral scents- especially with notes of gardenia and orange blossom. It's one of those scents that is perfect for everyday use- not at all overpowering, and very feminine. It's very warm & comforting, & lasted a solid 6-7 hours on my skin- perfect!
Are you ready to find your holy grail primer? The newest offering from Elizabeth Arden definitely has HG status written all over it, & the best part is that the Flawless Start Instant Perfecting Primer is suitable for ALL skin types. It is so, so lovely- I hardly know where to begin because it does so many good things, so I'm going to have to use bullet points to keep track:
- it makes your skin look glowing & radiant
- it reduces the appearance of fine lines & pores
- it is oil-free, & non-comedogenic
- it makes your foundation last alllllll day (or night)
- it evens out your skintone
- it contains hyaluronic acid (my FAVE) & botanical extracts to pamper your skin
- it helps to control shine thanks to the inclusion of silica beads
I mean- you can't ask for much more than that right? I don't actually use it all over my face, I stick to troublesome areas such as around my eyes, nose and chin, but you absolutely could use it all over if that's your vibe. it also makes your foundation glide on perfectly- SO GOOD!!! A contender for the MUO 2016 Beauty Awards, for SURE.
Forget everything you thought you knew about the original YSL Touche Eclat foundation launched in 2012- because the new & improved 2016 formulation Touche Eclat Le Teint is fricking to die for. It has all the excellence of the original- a medium coverage (which is easily built up to full), a gorgeous glowing (not dewy, GLOWING) finish, & is a complete dream to blend. However, I have tried both, & it is far longer lasting, much more hydrating, has a much more radiant finish, & now comes in 4 more shades. My skin is normal on a good day, dry on a bad day; I've tried this foundation on both days and didn't have a problem as long as I used a hydrating primer beforehand. I feel like it'd be fine for oily/combination skin types judging from what I've experienced- but pop into your nearest YSL counter & ask them to colour match you so you can try for yourself! This absolute BABE of a foundation will be available in NZ next month (the 21st of March), along with a very, very fancy new brush, named the Y-Brush. It's absolutely gorgeous, very dense, & gives a beautiful finish without wasting product...however, the brush isn't absolutely essential to purchase. The foundation works on it's own to make your skin look lovely- trust me.
L'Oreal Paris Is bringing the GOODS with their new season's offerings, & I am ridiculously happy about it- in the way that only an MUO can be. Easily one of my favourite drugstore brands (I know we're not in America, I just struggle trying to come up with an alternative to drugstore), I'm consistently impressed with how on-trend & high quality their products are. Their brand new Infallible Matte FX Lip Colours are insanely great; I'm obsessed with the nude shade pictured above on the left (001 Silencio). I took it with me recently on a work trip to Auckland, & it lasted through numerous coffees/meals/wines/cocktails (you know me). I've also been using it as a base for my other lipsticks, because the colour just clings. I need it in my bag, always- & it comes in 5 other shades which I can't wait to try. My other pick for a sell-out shade is pictured above right, the VERY Lady Danger-like (MAC) 006 Disturbia. If you like the look of either of the above shades, you better be quick!
Ohhh, Lancome, you HAVE to stop bringing out more and more beautiful mascaras- I'm already addicted enough. The newest offering is under the umbrella of the hugely popular Hypnose range...but BETTER. All Hypnose mascaras are famous for giving lashes a whole lot of volume, & the new Hypnose Volume-A-Porter certainly delivers. I generally steer clear of volumising mascaras, because I hate having to deal with clumps and/or tacky-feeling formulations, but this guy is noticeably easier to wield. I did have to comb my lashes afterwards, but honestly, I think that's just a habit of mine. The reason I say this is because I tested it by applying multiple coats- & it was totally easy to build big fat, lush lashes without feeling like your eyelids were being pulled off. I LOVED how there was no flaking, no transfer, & how well it held a curl. I LOVED the wet, black-black (you feel me?) formula, & I loved the small-ish brush- it's quite tiny on one end, making it easier to emphasise my outer lashes. The packaging is classic, sleek Lancome...& all in all, it's just bloody lovely. I didn't think much could compare with my holy grail Lancome Grandiose mascara....but this is WAY up there, & it's available from the 22nd of February in NZ. Love love love.
Remember those days when we used to wear lip gloss? Me neither- we're totally obsessed with matte lip products right now, and the trend definitely isn't going anywhere fast. When I was having a gawk at the NYFW shows online, all I could see was matte lips- mostly red, but some of our ever-favourite nude tones as well. The look is here to stay- for another 6 months or so at least. YAY to Maybelline for indulging us and being on-trend with their very affordable and brand new Colour Sensational Creamy Matte Lipsticks. I was really impressed with the ACTUAL creamy formulation, so many brands claim to be creamy, but totally aren't (I won't name names). It's not even a little bit drying, which makes it extremely wearable- & gives a solid 4-5 hours of wear before any touch ups are needed. I didn't have any issues with feathering, and didn't need to apply lip liner first- HUZZZAH! The shades available are completely gorgeous, with my top pics being Daringly Nude, Touch Of Spice, and Craving Coral. Yum yum yum- these are my favourite Maybelline lippies so far- a must-try. Check out my beautiful blogger friend Lani's swatches of some of the shades here- she is the SWATCH QUEEN!!!!
If you haven't yet discovered what an insanely amazing ingredient hyaluronic acid is, you need to get on the bandwagon, big time. Because once you do, you will never go back! I actively seek out moisturisers containing hyaluronic; this little elixir can transform your skin from drab to, er, fab. How? Well, it retains moisture, binding it to your skin so your face is always left feeling and looking hydrated. If you have dry skin or ageing skin, you'll fall head over heels. Hyaluronic acid can also fight free radicals (nasty pollutants in the air that mess up your skin), reduce fine lines (thanks to how it retains moisture, making your skin look plumper),AND reduce inflammation. Most of you know how highly I rate Aspect Dr Skincare, and they've just released their own Hyaluronic Serum- ahhhh! It is a super-charged hydration booster containing all manner of beneficial ingredients, including Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate (an oil soluble form of Vitamin C, and Niacinamide (Vitamin B, which calms, soothes, & moisturises your skin). You really only need one pump to cover your entire face, and apply it after cleansing and before moisturiser- you may not even need to use moisturiser, actually- but see how your skin feels. My skin is super happy right now, and I'm MORE than happy to continue using it and see how it affects my skin on a long term basis!
Everyone knows how much of a Lush fan I am- & when I find out that they're releasing new products I get crazy excited- maybe a little more than is normal, actually. The latest offerings this month are so gorgeous that I can't cope..well..I can, but just barely. It was stupidly hard to pick my top 2 faves, and honestly, I have so many more that I just know I'll be covering them sooner rather than later. ANYWAY- first off, The Comforter Shower Cream- this is the same scent as one of Lush's best selling bubble bars, The Comforter- aka sweet cassis absolute, bergamot, vanilla & blackberry. It's described as being wrapped in a warm hug, & I couldn't have said it any better myself. Of course the bright pink colour is a bonus for me, but I love how long the scent lingers- my boyf loves it. He actually stole some last week, & I laughed because his skin had a slight sparkle to it, which would have been hard to explain at the building site the next day..HAHA. It is quite runny, so I do recommend using one of those shower pouf things for the best results- you really won't want to waste a single drop. It's seriously yum, and I am SO happy that it's a permanent addition.
Even though I'm required to try out a huge range of skincare products for my job, I can guarantee that there will always be a product from Kiehl's in my daily skincare routine. I love them so much! The product range is huge, with products for every skin type imaginable- and even better, they are always adding to their range with new goodies. I've been wanting to try the Overnight Biological Peel for ages, so when it was given to me I high fived the universe. I know that peels sound scary, but they don't actually peel your skin off- I promise. Their purpose is to gently exfoliate and resurface the skin, leaving it smooth and clear. Over time, this peel is meant to reduce imperfections such as dark spots, fine lines and hyperpigmentation. I can't vouch for a reduction in those things as I've only been using it for a short while. What I can vouch for that is that after applying it at night time, I wake up with smooth, soft, happy skin that ALMOST doesn't need make up...and this, I LOVE. Despite it not containing any AHAs or BHAs, this peel is very potent, which I also love. I apply it after cleansing, and before my serums and moisturiser- leaving it on all night and then washing it off in the morning. VOILA- SKIN OF AN ANGEL. My skin looks great, it feels great, and I am sold. Kiehl's are very generous with their samples, so definitely pop into your nearest counter & give it a whirl- you'll be so glad you did.
This gorgeous compact is from the brand new Guerlain Spring 2016 makeup collection, and oh my goodness- it's a beaut. Many of you will have seen the Meteorites (multi-coloured pearls housed in beautiful tins) which is probably the most iconic Guerlain product- this compact is virtually identical, but in pressed powder form. In case you were wondering what on earth it is, and what it's used for- the Meteorites Voyage Powder Compact can be used to either highlight your face, or all over to give your skin an angelic glow...who doesn't want an angelic glow?? There are 5 different shades to colour correct & illuminate, & the scent is divine- the signature Guerlain violet fragrance. It is SO PRETTY & I'm in love.
I present to you- the PERFECT products from Dermalogica to use this summer. I've been using them religiously, & my skin is the happiest that I've seen it in a very long time. First up, the Multivitamin Power Recovery Masque. Packed full of all the good stuff- vitamins A, C, E & F, it's probably one of the most active and effective face masks I've tried. It's brilliant for skin that is dry or dull, & when used over time can reduce the appearance of photodamaged skin & fine lines. It smells DIVINE, & I apply it in place of moisturiser just before bed- don't worry about your pillowcases, it absorbs super quickly! This product gets an A++++ from me!
I've been telling just about everyone I know about the Daily Resurfacer. Basically, you get a (pretty big) cute tub packed full of individual packets which contain chemical exfoliation pads. I know that chemical exfoliation sounds a bit scary to the uninitiated, but it is one the BEST things you can start doing for your skin. Why? When you gently swipe one of the pads over your skin, the AHAs & BHAs it contains work to smooth, tone, & brighten your skin by gently removing dead skin cells. These are powerful little guys- but magically gentle enough to be used every day. If you'd like your skin to glow, these are the things to try!
Now, I love dry shampoo. I loveeee it. But I haven't ever found one whose effects work all day- until now. And if you're in the same boat as me, rest assured that your search is over. The Oribe Dry Texturising Spray is a little (actually quite big) miracle worker! When applied, it doesn't just absorb all the heinous oil at your roots, but it give some pretty hefty volume- some real oomph, if you will. Not only that, but it holds whatever style you've chosen, and lasts...and lasts...and lasts- ALL DAY. Sometimes until the next day. Sorry Batiste, I love you, but Oribe has taken over. Brilliant stuff.
Whether we like it or not (& whether we can believe it or not, thanks to the current heat wave)- the cooler months are coming. I'm doing all I can to get my skin ready for winter by stocking up on hydrating masks, decent exfoliating products- but most of all, moisturisers! It's a good idea to up the ante with your skincare during the colder seasons by opting for something more nourishing, & the new Kiehl's Ultra Facial Deep Moisture Balm is where it's at. It is awesomely rich & hydrating, & perfect for sensitive skin as there's no added fragrance- whoop! I like to apply this at night time as it really is such a thick balm (a little goes a long way!); I love how it plumps my face, & being able to wake up with 100% moisturised skin. A must-try for winter!
The entire Lancome Spring 2016 makeup collection looks good enough to eat- SO pretty! I love everything I've tried so far (& will mention more in future posts), but the stand out for me currently is the limited edition Lancome My Parisian Pastels. Look at the cuteness! It's a shimmer cube palette (the cubes can be taken out & moved around) for eyes and cheeks in the pastel hues- which have been touted everywhere as the number one makeup trend for the coming months. You can use them on their own- or combined- they look incredible on the cheeks & cheekbones to highlight...or for a pretty wash of colour on the eyes. Take it from me- pastel shades are going to be HUGE, so get in quickly!
I've been using various products from Davines for nearly a year now, and I can't get enough of them. I decided to try the DEDE hair care range over summer because it's designed to be used every day if needed. I've never been one of those humans who have to wash their hair every day, but this summer has been ridiculously hot, & my hair has paid the price. Enter DEDE shampoo & conditioner! It smells so good, all citrusy, & even though it's super gentle, it does a brilliant job of cleaning my mop right up, as well as leaving it soft and shiny. The range also includes a Hair Mist (leave in conditioner)- much needed for untangling knotty hair after swims in the sea!
Do you have blackheads? Or have dull skin? Do you want to wake up with radiant skin EVERY SINGLE DAY? This is not an infomercial, this is a RAVE about the Environ Alpha Hydroxy Gel. Okay- this product is the business. I apply it every night, & I can't even begin to tell you what a difference it's made to my skin. Since I've used it, I only wear tinted moisturisers/light coverage foundations because my skin just looks so damn good that it's a shame to cover it up! The gel itself contains a high amount of AHA's (alpha hydroxy acids) such as glycolic & lactic- both of which do wonders at improving the texture of skin- & it's strong, so I recommend talking to your beauty therapist before trying it. It's my go-to every day now, & I recommend it to anyone who has issues with congested, mature, or sun damaged skin.
I have to admit, I've always been a leeeeeetle bit cautious of gel/liquid/cream blushes- basically anything that wasn't in powder form. I was convinced I'd use far too much, that it would stain my face, & go horribly wrong- you get the idea. But the YSL Fusion Ink Blush from the latest collection (Spring 2016) is magnificent, & most importantly, tres user friendly. The gel formulation is light, & easy to blend- I apply a little to the back of my hand, & work from there using a densely packed round topped blush brush. This means I can't over-commit, & just build the colour up. The slender tube packaging is both beautiful looking, hygienic, & functional- & the colour stays on my cheeks for a solid 6-7 hours. WINNER!!!
Ohhh YSL, you are so beautiful! These products are from the 2015 holiday collection, aptly titled KISS & LOVE...& if you weren't sold on the packaging already, wait until I tell you how glorious the actual products are. The Touche Éclat is one of YSL's best sellers, & is used for a multitude of things- including concealing dark shadows (a huge must for me), as well as highlighting & sculpting your little face. It's fab along the top of cheekbones, down your nose, & on your brow bone. LOVE. The limited edition version is available on counter on the 23rd of November!
If you love lipsticks that have an incredibly high colour payoff, with an ultra creamy, long wearing finish, you'll love the Rouge Pur Couture range. YSL have made four of the shades (#1 Le Rouge, #13 Le Orange, #19 Le Fuchsia, & #70 Le Nu) collector's editions, with both the casing AND the lipstick bullet embossed with the cutest lip prints. Too pretty to use? Almost! But once you've applied it, you'll be glad you did! These lipsticks will be available in store (Farmers, pharmacies, & selected department stores) on the 19th of October.
See this product? It is EVERYTHING. EVERYTHING. It's heaven in a jar (that looks like it's been designed by NASA, incidentally). I love it so much that I hate using it....because I'm scared of it running out. La Prairie 3 Minute Peel is an exfoliating face mask that uses AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids, which get rid of dead skin cells), BHAs ( beta hydroxy acids, which work on unclogging pores), & leaves your skin looking brighter, plumper, & more smooth than you can imagine. You use the cute wee brush to apply the product in upward strokes, leaving it on for the specified 3 minutes (no longer, because this stuff is STRONG), wash it off gently...and voila! Hiiiiiii angel face! I love this product forever.
Oasis Beauty is totally boss, for so many reasons. Their NZ-made products are top of the line, cruelty free, perfect for sensitive skin, made with organic & natural ingredients- & they all smell AMAZING. I've been trialling Fruit Smoothie, which is a scrub AND a face mask (simply leave it on your skin a little longer before rinsing off) that contains delicious things like pink grapefruit, papaya, pineapple & pink clay. It leaves my skin feeling so fresh, smooth & soft, & I love how long this bottle is going to last me- a little amount goes a long way! I've heard Fruit Smoothie can be especially great for acne-prone skin as well, so definitely don't be scared of giving it a try- it's lovely!
Lancome La Vie Est Belle EDP Intense
Fragrance group- White floral
Top notes- Orange, Bergamot, Currant buds, Pear, Pink Pepper
Middle notes- Orange Blossom, Jasmine, Ylang-Ylang, Iris, Tuberose
Base notes- Hazelnut, Whipped cream
Kirk's notes- Ohhhhh my goodness I love it. I'm a sucker for white floral fragrances anyway- but this beauty really bowled me over. Like the name suggests, it is intense- but in the best possible way! This could easily be a signature scent, it's so distinctive and beautiful- as well as being unbelievably long-lasting. Not for the faint hearted; if you like to make lasting impressions with your fragrance, you really need to check it out!
Available from 21 September 2015 at selected department stores, Farmers and pharmacies
I LOVE serums. I love them more than any other skincare product, and if given the chance, could talk about them all day. Environ Focus Frown Serum is a product that I have been having a love affair with lately, because it really does WORK. Okay- disclaimer: you don't wake up one morning with a wrinkle free face...but if you use it twice daily, any fine lines WILL be significantly lessened- & really, that's good enough for me. It works by softening muscle activity around your eyes and forehead (those frowny-prone areas), which smooth out existing lines & keep imminent lines at bay. I LOVE IT. I wish I could bathe in it.
Montblanc Lady Emblem EDP
Fragrance group- Fruity floral
Top notes- Pink Rose, Peach, Marmalade, Red Currant
Middle notes- Rosewood, Patchouli, Sandalwood
Base notes- Raspberry, Musk
Kirk's notes- First of all, I need to express how in love I am with this packaging! A pink glass diamond shape- dying. It's so pretty! Not as pretty as the fragrance though, that's on a whole other level. Montblanc Lady Emblem is super feminine, and is a scent that I can see myself wearing all through spring and summer. It really is so gorgeous. Guys LOVE this, and I love it because of how unique it is, and how it makes me feel girly even if I'm being a slob kebab in trackies!
It's been ages since I wrote about Benefit, so I'm really excited to tell you guys about this new product. Air Patrol is a multi-tasking lil angel (it even has wings)- & as described as being a BB cream for the eye lids. Essentially, it offers SPF20 protection, preps the eye lids with a fantastic colour correcting shade of pale yellow (swatch here), and makes an excellent primer for eye shadow- my eye makeup didn't budge for ten hours straight! I've also been using this on it's own for days where I don't fancy wearing eye shadow- my eyes look fresh, hydrated & happy. The soft squishy applicator is perfect for use around the eye area...& the packaging is CRAZY cute. Out in October, Air Patrol is a must try.
I've talked to you guys about how much I've been loving the Davines hair care range (check that post out here to catch up!), and I decided awhile ago that I simply must try some of the products from their styling range. LOOK AT THAT PRETTY PACKAGING!!! I've been using the Sea Salt Spray so often these days that I've nearly run out already, and it is FAB. So many sea salt products make my hair crunchy, greasy, & weighed-down- not this guy! Check out the Davines how-to vid here to see how I use it (except I do it myself ;) ). The other product I've been loving to death is the Invisible Serum, which gives a softer tousled style with a beautiful shine- & makes my hair smell divine! It also takes care of any frizz, & has a light hold-perfect!
First of all, just look at it. LOOK at the La Prairie gorgeousness. The sleek platinum-like packaging screams luxury and quality, and you can see it has the all-important pump dispenser. Pump dispensers are fabulous because they guarantee hygiene, ease of use, & zero waste. Trust me, you won't want to waste a single drop of this! The Anti-Aging Rapid Response Booster is a serum designed to be worn after cleansing & toning, & before moisturiser, & it claims to lessen the appearance of lines & in two weeks. TWO WEEKS. This sounds mad, but before you roll your eyes, know this- 100% of users trialed had visible skin improvement in 2 weeks. Impressive. The formulation is also impressive with the classic La Prairie rose scent, & it absorbs quickly- no sticky residue found in many serums. I haven't used this for two weeks YET- but I will report back...& in the meanwhile, my skin feels plump, smooth, & looks amazing. If I could bathe in this, I would- it is SO LOVELY.
Ever wondered about the mysterious admin team of MUO? They're sharing their Friday Favourites with you all this week- and I'm sharing why each person is MY Friday Favourite. God knows where I'd be without these people. Probably curled up in the foetal position in a corner somewhere. I love them. Let me know in the comments which product sounds like something YOU would like to try- because I have some to give away- HUZZAH!!!!! Thank you admin!!!!
