How long have you been making candles?
About 6-7 months! Not very long at all. I started just before Christmas last year.
What inspired you to start- & how did you learn?
It started out as a way for me to make gifts for my family for Christmas - but I didn't want to just give them a handmade candle in a jar, I wanted it to look like a professional product. So, I worked with a friend of mine (who is an amazing graphic designer) to design a logo for me.
Once I finished a couple of candles, people started asking me if they were for sale, and from there it grew into Morgan Candle Co. the business!
And how I learnt... I basically taught myself, with a bit of help from Google..and LOTS of trial and error!
It is far more scientific than I first anticipated and not as easy as I first thought.
Which scent is the top seller...& which one/s are your faves?
My top sellers are Coconut Lime and Brown Sugar + Fig, they're both sweet, but not too overpowering.
My favourite changes almost weekly, but my longstanding favourite would be Avocado + Mint; it's light and fresh, fruity and sweet but still a soft and subtle fragrance- perfect for the bedroom or living areas.
What's next for Morgan Candle Co.?
Currently, I'm looking into producing boxes for the candles to be packaged in, and looking into some retailers who can stock them in store.. And I have a really cool project that I'm working on for wedding favours/bridal showers and personalized his & hers candles!
