Becoming a beauty & fashion blogger has really encouraged me to up my game. I do the majority of my work from the couch (great, right?!), and while that is cool, there are certain things I need to do, and certain items I need to have to ensure I don't turn into a total slob kebab. I was lucky enough to get my hands on the COOLEST new phone, the Samsung S6, before it was released on April 11th...and it inspired me to write about all the other things I'm considering to be my essentials right now. I'm going to tell you about them in this post, and explain exactly why I need all this swag- I promise you that I'm not writing this post in my pyjamas (today).
1. When MUO grew, and followers on Twitter & Instagram started increasing, it because apparent that my poor old phone simply couldn't cope- sometimes it would even turn itself off if I got too many notifications. Like a toddler throwing a tantrum, if you will. Thank god I was given the new Samsung S6 to try out, and it is magnificent. Not only is it super stylish-looking (yes, this is important to me), but the pics and vids it takes are of such high quality I can't believe that I actually took them myself. I also do a lot of Kindle reading using the S6, and this is where the huge screen comes into play. Not having to strain my eyes equals less Botox for meee..oh, and it's better for my eyes of course. And it's fast- SO fast. I'm on an excellent plan with Spark that has a tonne of data- obviously something I need a LOT of. It also includes Spotify Premium (which would normally cost an extra $12.99 a month), so I can listen to music all day long- it's just brilliant. I'm not going to lie, I feel a lot cooler with this phone than I did with my other poor old potato phone. You can read more about it & order here- but be quick- it's shaping up to be super popular!
Summer is officially over, and even though I’m in mourning about it- it HAS been a beautiful one! I spent heaps of time at Mt Maunganui, enjoyed margaritas and ceviche in the sun, and sat in Micah’s paddling pool far more than he did. There are several things I couldn’t have gotten through summer without, and I’m going to list them so you can read all about them- and to remind myself next summer how essential they were!
~ Charlies Honest Fizz Raspberry Drink ~
I’ve been a fan of raspberry fizzy drink since I was a wee dot, but it’s not very often that they taste like ACTUAL raspberry. This drink DOES- and it’s not at all watered down...it’s basically a thirst quenching fruit taste explosion. It is SO good, and will always remind me of summer. You must try it!
~ Rexona Clinical Protection ~
This summer has been a long, extremely hot affair- particularly since I relocated and am now living inland...with no sea breeze. I thought it’d be cooler down here, but no chance! I’m incredibly stoked with the performance of Rexona Clinical Protection though- it keeps me fresh, dry and confident...even in the bustling metropolis that is Cambridge ;) It’s also compact enough to throw in my bag, so I’ll never be caught out.
~Aspect Cellebation ~
Exfoliation and I have a tempestuous relationship. It seem I exfoliate too much, or I forget to exfoliate at all- either way, it’s not a great thing. This little goody is such a treat though, because even though it’s gentle (perfect for sensitive skin), it’s super effective. I love to use this before applying makeup-it makes my face perfectly soft and smooth.
~ Elizabeth Arden BB Cream ~
When I first received this, I wasn’t overly excited because I DO like a decent amount of coverage- something you don’t usually get in BB Creams. However, this bad boy not only gives coverage, but makes my skin look absolutely amazing..so glowy! It also has an SPF 30, so it’s been brilliant for summer wear. Love it!
~ Lindt Strawberry Intense Dark Chocolate ~
All chocolate is good chocolate in my opinion, but not all chocolate is created equally. I spied this on the shelf while I was grocery shopping, and I grabbed it because (a) I liked the packaging, and (b) I like strawberries. Holy smokes, it’s so yummy, and I don’t normally go crazy over dark choc.. My boyfriend and I ate the whole bar in one sitting, it was almost embarrassing. SO GOOD.
~Karen Murrell Moisture Stick ~
Even though I do enjoy the novelty of wearing a bright lip to the beach occasionally, for the most part I prefer to keep it fairly understated. The thing I love about this product is that it’s NOT just a lip balm; while it does do an incredible job of moisturising my lips, it also plumps them up- yuss! It’s been lovely this summer, and will be essential for winter as well.
I never make New Years Resolutions, because there’s just too much pressure and hype… always a case of over-promising and under-delivering. Instead, I decided to hold off a little, have a big think, and decide on things I want to do differently this year. Wish me luck!
This is the part of the blog where I write about anything I like, so...
