Eye of Horus

Eye of Horus is one of those beautiful brands that I have discovered since I started Makeup Obsessives, and now I am in love. Not only is the range cruelty free, but they're also free from nasties (aka, parabens) which could potentially irritate the eye area. The products are REALLY high performing, the pigmentation is unreal, and the colours are gorgeous.

Eye of Horus is an Australian brand which only launched in New Zealand in 2012, and I believe it's filling that cruelty free/high quality niche perfectly.  The girls who created the products did a lot of research into how the Ancient Egyptians used ingredients such as carnauba wax, rice bran wax, candelilla wax and moringa oil- all of which are nourishing and beautifying.
You've probably seen or heard me rave about the mascara (which I will rave some more about below), but that's just the beginning- there's SO much more to love!

WHOAH these eyeshadow palettes are divine...seriously. The pigmentation is mental- don't let those lighter shades fool you because they really all pack a punch. Something I also really like about the palettes is that you can buy refills- YAY! I mainly use them dry, but I've found if I wet my rush, the intensity goes up by 100%, and I love it. I haven't had any issue with creasing, despite the powder texture being so creamy- and it lasts on my lids for ages. Each refillable palette comes with a wee travel rush too, which is a bonus!

If you have green or blue eyes, you need the Sheba Eye Shadow Palette in your life, quickly. That deep, royal purple shade has my heart, I haven't been able to find another quite like it. I could create SO many looks with this, and I'm nowhere near as creative as you guys- so imagine what you could do! The Isis Eye Shadow Palette has such pretty warm tones- two of which are very similar to Amber Lights and Woodwinked (two of my MAC faves). If you like your highlighter to have a slight golden finish, then use can lightly swirl your blush brush in this to make it a multipurpose product. Speaking of multipurpose, I'm shocked (in a good way) at how often I'm reaching for the Maat Eye Shadow Palette, because I normally ALWAYS opt for shadows with shimmer or sheen. I love the matte brown smokey eye looks I can create with this- and because the texture is matte- it's perfect to use to fill in my brows. when I'm tanned, I imagine I'll also be able to use the middle shade as a contour. Perfect!

Ahhhh, Goddess Mascara! My true H.G. of mascaras. I've only been using this for a couple of months, but I literally have to fight myself not to wear it every day. It's part of my job to try new products...but you'll always catch me sneaking back to this guy. This mascara is wax-based, and when it's applied, it doesn't make my lashes feel stiff and strange, they feel and look conditioned- thanks to the natural plant waxes and oil it contains. It really does everything I want from a mascara- it lengthens, it thickens, it lasts all day without smudging, it doesn't freak out my sensitive eyes- and it's not a total nightmare to remove. I'm going to be using this forever.

Swatches of Eye Pencils from bottom to top: Emerald Tabula, Teal Malachite, Lazuli Blue, Jewel Amethyst, Bronze Amulet, Nubian Brown, Sultry Serpentine, Charcoal Obsidian, Black Smokey.
There are nine shades available of Eye Pencils in the Eye of Horus Range...I have three...and I want/need the other six. SO badly! I really struggle with eye pencils as a rule, the harder ones drag on my eye (makeup should never be painful), and the softer ones shift and smudge all over the place. These babies fall nicely in the middle though- and have the PRETTIEST shades available. My hands down favourite is the metallic purple, Jewel Amethyst, and my second hands down favourite is Bronze Amulet. The two I'm dying to get next are Lazuli Blue and Teal Malachite....yum yum yum.- my birthday is in October, by the way.

That aside, the quality of these pencils is awesome- they glide on, and once they've set- they're not going anywhere. Smudge-proof, check. Waterproof, check. They also don't fade over the course of the day either- SOOOO GOOD. You won't regret buying one or nine of these, the quality is just gorgeous.

So as you can tell, I'm pretty infatuated with the Eye of Horus products! It's been such a pleasure to try and then write abut them all, and I LOVE the EOH girls too. It's actually thanks to their generosity that I am able to offer several giveaways- wheeeeeeeee! (Comp now closed)

I want them all!! Seriously though, I've already tried the mascara and I've got two of their eye liner pencils and they are all so amazing. I'd really love to give their Maat Eye Shadow Pallette a go, it looks like something I could wear every day and if it's anything like their other products, I will be wearing it every day!!

The mascara for sure, as would love to be able to recommend to all of my clients to wear with their eyelash extensions (when due for infill or to jazz up the extensions), and I have been told that it is compatible for these, so would be so excited to try for myself!

I would love to try the black smokey eye pencil! I use eyeliner every day and lately my sensitive skin isn't liking the products I've been using so I've been on the hunt for eyeliner with good ingredients :) I want to be able to wear eyeliner without damaging the sensitive skin round my eyes. Other than that I'd want to try the liquid liner and mascara :D

As much as I'd love to try the liner pencils, having the sharpen them is a downside for me. So I'd love to try their mascara on my stick straight asian lashes to see if they hold curl.

HOW ON EARTH DO YOU EXPECT US TO CHOOSE KIRSTY?! lol EOH you have done an amazing job with the look of these products! You should be very proud of yourselves! I would lloovvveee to try the mascara, because it's really hard to find a really good, nice mascara that doesn't leave me with panda eyes, sometimes even waterproof ones do and the ones that don't are impossible to get off so I end up pulling out all my eyelashes!!! :( And thanks Kirsty for inevitably making me poor once more! xx

I have been on a life long quest to find the perfect mascara and this looks amaaaazing. The eye pencils look awesome too but I have just thrown away a bunch of crap mascaras in rage. Ahhh those colours are so beautiful.

But PS parabens aren't harmful. They're just preservatives, and they're found naturally in a lot of foods and things too. People think they're bad from one bad study, but they're actually really safe.
