MUO is famous for getting obsessed with various products. When it happens, I imagine hordes of MUO members storming the shops (or websites) & grabbing as much as they can...leaving the ones who weren't so savvy to weep bitter tears of regret. MAD FOMO. It's happened with so much; coconut oil, Batiste, Garnier Micellar Water, Skinfood Mud Masque, Limecrime (durrrrp), ANY new MAC release, Lush Toothy Tabs, Lush Feeling Younger, not Younique, HAHA. It's kind of the equivalent of an internet post going viral, but in retail form. I decided to swoop in & try a couple of products that are being raved about currently- before they sell out.
FIRST UP- Mitchum deodorant. Deodorant is not only a really hard word to spell, but isn't that exciting or fun. But whatever- it's a must-have, & we SHOULD be talking about it rather than being embarrassed. Now, I have the MARES with deodorants- every single one is effective at stopping the pong- but NONE could stop the sweat. In winter I didn't really care. Right now, I care. A lot. So I picked up the Mitchum Roll On in, uh, "Fresh Lady". I want to be a fresh lady, so cool. It cost $4.49 from Countdown which is YAAAAAAAAAY.
The results? Ohhh, I was doubtful. Today it is muggy and so hot, which would normally cause a rather frightening sweatage situation. I applied it at about 8am, & went about my day. I didn't do anything stupid like exercise, because I never exercise, but I DID walk for many many km's (only because no car). I also tried on 8 different things in a small shop with no air con. Then I had a rage because my wifi wouldn't work, & had to deal with a problematic member (now no longer a member). So you could say I was pretty stressed #firstworldproblemsiknow.
BUT GUESS WHAT?
I AM AS DRY AS ANYTHING. No word of a lie. It's now 5pm, & still stonking hot- and DRY. I'd ask you to touch my armpits but that's disgusting. This product WORKS, I LOVE it, & I WILL repurchase....if you guys don't buy it all.
NEXT UP- using the Nivea Men Post Shave Balm as a makeup primer. My job is crazy. But I had to try it. I found it for AROUND $14 at Countdown- but the price varies everywhere between $10-$18. $18 is a bit nuts, in my humble opinion. Obviously there's no alcohol in it, because I'm not THAT committed to the cause, but it definitely smells...manly. **Edited to add that this smell lasts only for a matter of minutes! I put this on after moisturiser, & it felt fine- like a runny moisturiser I guess, & it absorbed quickly. This product is for sensitive skin, so I don't imagine anyone having any problems. I then applied my base as usual (my trusty MAC Lightful Tinted Cream, Bare Minerals powder, & the Hourglass Lighting palette), & went about my day.
Now, I'd done my makeup quite "glowy", so I wasn't too concerned, & I don't have oily skin so I knew it wouldn't slide right off. BUT I wanted to see if this balm made my makeup LAST. I didn't notice it diminishing my pores, or my fine lines for that matter- but that's okay- I wanted to test longevity. By 1pm (I posted a pic in MUO for you guys) I'd been a bit hectic (see above), & my face was a little more glowy than it was in the morning- but all still intact. I checked it at 330pm, and I noticed some foundation build up around my nose, & it had settled into my smile lines....but my base was still all there. It's now 5.30pm, & my makeup is SWEET. It's definitely dewier/glowier/whatever than it was at the start of the day, but I can deal with that. Obviously I put lipstick on for the pic, because I didn't want to look like a complete asshole.
VERDICT??? IT WORKS. Bearing in mind that I do NOT have oily skin (my skin is normal/dry), & I didn't go to the gym or anything...but my makeup never ever stays this perfect after such a hot day. If you want something to make your makeup last, and you don't have very very very oily skin, and you're not bothered about pore-minimising etc- this may well be the product for you. Will I repurchase? Sure- but I can't see myself running out any time soon- you get a lot in thurrr. Plus I love too many other primers as well! But I'm coming to Auckland next week, & will need my makeup to laaaaaaast all day for meetings (EXCITING MAKEUPPY STUFF!)- I'll definitely be reaching for this.
Thanks for reading guys! Any questions, let me know below! Have a happy & SAFE long weekend xxx
