Packaging: A sturdy wee frosted glass bottle with a pump dispenser (YESSSS- I love dispensers)
Finish: Matte, but not a TRUE matte. Almost satin, but not quite. Cool?
Coverage: I'd put this at a solid medium- it covered most of my redness, but I imagine you'd need a concealer if you wanted to amp up the coverage.
Longevity: I put this on really early in the morning (around 6am, kill me), & it was preeeetty good. I'm not sure about the 16 hour claim, as I did have to touch up my nose & chin around midday- but I like to do this anyway, force of habit etc.
Suitable for: Normal skin, or oily skin if you use a setting powder on the top.
RRP & stockists: $25.50, from Farmers stores & pharmacies.
Extra Kirk thoughts: Look, if you're looking for a foundation that does exactly what it says on the tin (bottle), this is great. It's not going to perform miracles, but it's fantastic for every day wear.
Packaging: A plastic squeezy tube contraption. I appreciate tubes, because take up barely an space, and you can throw them in your bag without the risk of a broken bottle mare. Just remember to screw the lid on, for gods sakes.
Finish: Matte. True matte. Love it.
Coverage: Insane! I don't need concealer (except around my eyes), or powder. Technically, it's medium, but you can build it up easily.
Longevity: Even more insane! This guy lasted on my old mug from early in the morning with NO shine until dinner time- with no touch ups needed. Superb.
Suitable for: Oily skin, combination skin, & IF you moisturise well, dry skin.
RRP & stockists: $39.99 (BUT IT'S ON SPESH RIGHT NOW AT FARMERS FOR $31.99)
Extra Kirk thoughts: My favourite of the bunch! L'Oreal Paris has brought the goods, & I've been using this a LOT. If I had to be picky, I'd say there isn't a huge range of shades available, but honestly, it's really great. Your face looks flawless, but it doesn't feel like you've shoveled it on.
Packaging: A glass bottle; a minimalist style- which looks quite majestic, if that's possible for a foundation bottle.
Coverage: Light-medium. It gives a really fresh, natural finish- I use it on days when my skin is behaving itself. When my skin is being a dick, I definitely do need to use concealer & powder.
Longevity: Well, it's not long wearing. I recommend setting it with a powder to keep it on lock down, but even then, it can be prone to disappearing later in the day.
Suitable for: Those of us with dry skin- finally! Not so great for oily skin. Amazing for normal skin.
RRP & stockists: $25.49, at Farmers, pharmacies & some supermarkets
Extra Kirk thoughts: I love love love how lightweight this feels on my skin- if you're one of those humans that hates the feeling of foundation, you'll like this. I don't love that it doesn't have a pump, but I can get over it because I really like the finish, and I really like the price.
Packaging: A glass bottle with a pump dispenser- HUZZAH
Finish: Satin. A happy medium between glowy and matte.
Coverage: Apparently medium, but I found it more of a full coverage! I didn't need to use very much of this either, so extra points for that.
Longevity: Fantastic! I wore this on a rare night out, and didn't need to touch it up at all. well, I touched up my nose, but I alwaaaays have to do that.
Suitable for: Combination/oily. It did cling a little to the dry patches of my face, but nothing that I had to have a meltdown about.
RRP & stockists: $36.49 at pharmacies, Farmers, K Mart, & supermarkets
Extra Kirk thoughts: This is a nice creamy formula, but one that I suggest blending quickly, because it does set rather fast. I also found that it is prone to oxidise, so be careful with the shade that you choose- don't get carried away and choose one that's even slightly too dark. It's meant to improve the texture of your skin, which I didn't pay much attention to- however, it certainly didn't make it worse. I like it!
Packaging: I love the packaging of this. It has a pump, and rose gold is purrrrdy. It makes me happy.
Finish: Glowy like an angel!!!
Coverage: Medium, but can easily be toned down or built up.
Longevity: Slightly above average. It's not marketed as being long-wearing, but this lasted about 6 hours on my face before it needed to be touched up around my T Zone.
Suitable for: All skin types! WUT? Yes. However, if you are prone to oiliness, I recommend that you set this properly with a powder- it may not last quite as long as mine did, either.
RRP & stockists: It's on sale at makeup.co.nz for $33.95- get itttt
Extra Kirk thoughts: Probably the closest you'll get to NARS Sheer Glow you can get with a drugstore foundation, however, there is more sparkle in this. NOT glitter, but you will notice it. I really really love the finish it gives, it makes my skin look fantastic, and I'm 100% happy with the coverage it gives. I'm trying to think if there's a down side- but I'm struggling, actually.
Packaging: It's a plastic tube WITH a pump dispenser...very good.
Finish: Satin, but you could probably get away with calling it matte- it's not a full, flat matte, though.
Coverage: FULL. VERY FULL. The first time I used this I severely underestimated it, and whoah, I put on a little too much. 1-2 pumps is really all you need for your whole face to look flawless.
Longevity: This stuff lasts all day, with no touch ups needed. I don't need powder or concealer, but it wouldn't hurt to use it if you have oily/combination skin.
Suitable for: Everybody in the world that likes a full coverage finish.
RRP & stockists: $35 from www.hikosencara-nz.com
Extra Kirk thoughts: This was the very first product that I not only purchased online, but one that the MUO members influenced me into trying. I REGRET NOTHING. I haven't reached for it much lately because of my colouring (the only bummer about this product is that it comes in one shade only- light beige), but now that I'm ghostly white, I'm going to use it again. If you're looking for me, I'll be the one with the flawless skin.
Packaging: My old favourite, the plastic squeezy tube.
Finish: A soft matte.
Coverage: Light to medium, but I like to build it up to medium...because it's just my vibe.
Longevity: Really good, for a product which doesn't claim to be long-wearing! I didn't notice it fading at all, but you may need to touch up with powder near the end of the day if your skin is oily.
Suitable for: It's oil free and fragrance free, so those of you with oily, sensitive & combination skin will appreciate this one.
RRP & stockists: $19.99 from The Warehouse
Extra Kirk thoughts: I'm fairly new to Covergirl products, and I was stoked with this! The range also includes a concealer and a powder foundation (which I'll talk about next time), & the shades are all extremely wearable. It's incredibly easy to blend, and wonderfully affordable, yaaaaay!
