The first one I’ll rave about is the NYX Studio Perfect Primer in Lavender. The affordable price of this makes it an awesome go-to primer for everyday use ($22 from makeup.co.nz), and it comes in 3 different shades. I have the shade Lavender, which is perfect for brightening my sometimes dull skin, and if you have yellow undertones it will colour correct those as well. The other 2 shades are Green (to correct redness) and Clear (for smoothing fine lines and large pores). The texture is awesome, really silky and smooth, and it’s really the perfect base for my foundation. I’ve tested it out, and it does make my makeup last longer, and I get a much nicer finish- I just find I don’t need to use quite as much product, which is a plus! Especially now it’s getting warmer and warmer, yay!
Next up is the NYX Super Fat Eye Marker. Now, up until 2 and a half years ago I had ALL the time in the world to perfect my eye liner. I could sit in front of the mirror surrounded by my makeup and emergency tools (cotton buds etc), and take the time necessary to create a perfect winged look. These days I am far more likely to skip it altogether, because when my child sees my makeup, it’s like civil war is declared and he just wants everything. But this little product has given me some respite, because it’s now a million times easier and faster to apply liner. I love the felt pen design, and I love how it stays all day without smudging. It also doesn’t have that dreaded effect of getting pressed onto your lids, giving a strange avant-garde look- it stays where it’s meant to. This means you don’t ever have to say to people in true Jenna Marbles style, “What? Oh....yes, I MEANT my liner to also be in my crease, I DID it that way, so the jokes on you, buddy”. A plus.
I had read about the NYX Wonder Pencil and was intrigued, so I needed to try it. Like virtually all of my favourite products it’s a multi-tasker! It’s pretty cool with all the things it does, and for the price you really can’t go past it. My absolute fave thing to use it for is to line my waterline with it if I haven’t had much sleep, and it instantly makes me look wide awake- even if I’m feeling like death. I used to use a white liner, but it kind of looked a little obvious and crazy (on me), nude is much better for a natural look. Because this pencil is so creamy, you can also use it as a concealer on blemishes. I like to warm it up on the back of my hand first, then use my small concealer brush to apply it rather than applying the pencil directly to the flaw. The creamy staying power is great, so it’ll last all day. The other use for this which I actually haven’t tried yet as I don’t have this problem (thankfully) is to line your lips with it to prevent any lipstick/lipgloss bleeding. I have tried using it all over my lips as a base to give a good true colour for my lip product, and it was great for making it pop- and for making it last longer. It’s a great little product, and it comes in Light and Medium (I use Medium).
So there you have it, another NYX review! As I said, I have no doubt that I’ll be reviewing more NYX products soon, the brand is awesome, and the prices are perfect.
