But what about the performance??
Pretty awesome, actually! When i first saw them and swatched them, I didn't think the colour payoff would be that high, but it IS! If you don't believe me, you can check out my pics at the bottom of this review. They taste and smell kind of fruity and sweet, which is explained by the fact that they contain sweet orange oil and grapefruit oil. The high moisture factor is thanks to the olive oil- and despite these rather slippery sounding ingredients, it stayed on. It's certainly not long-wearing, but what I did like was the fact that the brighter shades left a stain. YAY! There are 5 shades available, and next on my list is Pink Love- which is actually a purple/fuchsia shade that I think I will die over.
But what about performance?? These are my thoughts:
- If you have damn near perfect skin, I'd opt for the original. It doesn't have quite as much coverage as the other two- but it is slightly cheaper, and still provides about x20 more coverage than the regular BB creams available.
- If your skin is prone to redness or breakouts- go for Triple The Solution. It covers all. We're talking Double Wear standards here. The colour does seem to be the most universally flattering, and I wore this one in the selfies I took below. I used concealer under my eyes, and a wee bit on my nose and chin- but Triple sorted out everything else. No powder needed :)
- If you need coverage AND hydration, you've gotta try the Super Gold. It's the creamiest and smoothest out of all three...is this the snail ingredient? I believe so. Don't be freaked out by that- it's only a tiny amount- and it's NOT actual snails, because that'd be silly. It's the, well, slime they produce. And before you get worried- this ingredient has been used in Asian cosmetics and skincare for years, with incredible results. Perhaps it's not a product for vegans, but if you're not vegan, I highly recommend it. Be brave, loves. It's all in the name of beauty, right?
Regardless of which BB you choose, you can be assured that this is a pretty amazing brand, and it does live up to the hype. When I first ordered it a year ago, I squeezed out quite a lot- thinking that it'd give minimal coverage because that was what Western BB creams provided. Take my word for it, go easy on it, because that first time when I went overboard I looked like a geisha. Moisturise well, bear in mind a little goes a long way, and you'll be rapt!
But...what about the performance?
Just like with the Heartful lipsticks, I was initially skeptical about how pigmented these would be. I think after last week's review, I'm just SO used to intense pigmentation that it's almost spoiled me. But those were matte, and these have a glossy finish- but in lipstick form. They also smelt like flowers- in the nicest possible way. You can see from my potato phone selfies that the colour payoff is great- and again, while I wouldn't say they're long wearing, they feel good, and look good- and that's enough for me. I used a nude lip pencil underneath Pink Beige to make it pop a little bit more, and this obviously helped it stay on as well. They're super creamy, and just perfect, really. I want more, but I'm scared of how long it'll take me to choose again :O
So obviously there's a giveaway- the winner can choose a Holika Holika Heartful Moisture Lipstick in the shade of their choice- here's how to enter:
