My appointment was to have my very own custom-blend foundation mixed for me, something completely new! The thought of having the EXACT shade made just for me was so cool. What I especially love is that you can even choose the finish: matte, or dewy. I decided on the dewy finish, because my skin tends to be on the dull side, and I'm glad I went for this option because the product is gorgeous!
It's a water-based foundation, so it sinks into the skin beautifully, and is buildable for varying amounts of coverage. I find (on a good skin day) I only need one layer, and only a tiny amount of concealer...and no powder, yay!
So as well as being able to use less product, I also found this foundation had such a glowing finish that it completely eliminated the need for a highlighter. Obviously if you wanted a stronger look for contouring/evening, highlighter would be great, but for day-wear, it's all taken care of.
Guess what? It gets better. We generally need to have a couple of foundations on hand, for when the summer arrives, and our skin tone can get darker. If you purchase a Phoenix Custom Blend foundation, and halfway through the bottle you find it a little too light...you can take it in-store, and they'll mix it a little darker for you...for FREE!!! In my eyes, this essentially means you're getting two foundations in one. I always have half used bottles sitting around, forget about them, buy more, and it's just a big old waste of money that could be better spent elsewhere (like on more makeup). But that won't happen in this case, and I think it's great.
While I was there, I got to have a play with their other gorgeous products, and try their brushes too...so soft, but perfectly dense enough for application. I have my eye on their buffer brush...I NEED it! I also got a leeeeeetle bit excited about their range of Pixie Shimmer cheek colours...the little diamante compact had me at hello.
In addition to lovely cosmetics, Phoenix Cosmetics offer a wide range of services such as eyelash extensions, brow shaping, makeovers, and makeup lessons...it's truly a one stop shop. A REALLY pretty one that I'm already looking forward to visiting again.
