When a new foundation has a waiting list in the U.K. of over 12,000 people, you know that there's got to be something amazing going on. As I always say, foundation is easily my favourite beauty product, and when a new one launches I'm compelled to try them. Eye shadows are beautiful, but they don't really DO anything apart from look pretty. Foundation, on the other hand, is getting more and more advanced each year. I was sent the new new YSL Fusion Ink Foundation to try so I could tell you guys about it, and LIFE WILL NEVER BE THE SAME AGAIN.
The coverage is medium, but can easily build up to a full coverage. You only need a TINY amount for a medium coverage. It's quite surprising how such a little amount can go so far!
How does it feel on your skin?
It honestly feels like I'm putting on the smoothest skincare ever- that beautiful. The texture is unbelievably light (like ink, as the name suggests), glides on, blends easily, and then melts in. It's basically like liquid to pigment, if that makes sense.
How long does it last?
Fusion Ink is being marketed as giving 24 hour wear, but I haven't tried to keep it on that long yet because I am a nana :O What I CAN tell you is that it lasts from 9am to 6pm-ish for me with zero touch ups...and my skin felt soft and smooth all day.
What skin types is it suitable for?
I have dry skin, and Fusion Ink is perfection. It does set to an almost matte finish, and has mattifying properties, so I imagine it would be fine for oily skin types as well. I just had a browse through of some overseas reviews, and it seems like there have been nothing but glowing reviews from people with all skin types- oily, combination, dry. The best thing to do is to go to a YSL counter, ask politely to be colour matched, and VERY nicely for a sample- then see how it goes.
How do you apply it?
Okay, this was something I had to get used to, because I normally work off the back of my hand. I swipe a TINY amount of product on my forehead, cheeks, jaw, down my nose, and on my chin- and then use a flat top kabuki foundation brush to blend it in. You don't have to work too quickly, but you may as well :D Normally I never ever ever put foundation around my eyes because WRINKLES, but I did with this guy and it was fantastic! You could also use a beauty blender if you prefer.
How does it compare to Double Wear?
Well, it's just a different formulation. DW is a traditional (and very good) liquid foundation which gives long-lasting full coverage, and you can definitely feel it on the skin. Fusion Ink is a newer breed of foundation which feels much lighter on the skin, but gives long-wearing medium to full coverage.
How is it with your perioral dermatitis?
I can happily say that I no longer suffer from this- due to a huge lifestyle change which in turn got rid of a lot of stress. But given that this feels so beautiful on my skin, I really do imagine that it would have been fine.
Where can I get it & when is it available?
